Update 4/19/22 - If you have updates on Jeanne's pets, please feel free to contact me anytime!

It has been many months since I've been able to update this site, however ARNO's Kathy and Reesi have done excellent in providing me updates on Jeanne's prescious pets.  As of now this is what I know:

Bennie and Lilly Anne are being cared for in a foster home, they are the only two left that need a forever home.

Tinkerbell had been returned to the shelter and was adopted by a long time volunteer named Wendy and her husband.  They are great parents for Tinkerbell, who also foster kitten litters at times, and I'm sure Tinkerbell is loving to be able to be a surrogate Mom to the kittens as she tragically lost her litter and experienced trauma from that experience.  It is a great that Tinkerbell has the opportunity to provide love to kittens again.  She is at a happy home with one other senior cat.

Tigress is in permanent foster with Kathy of ARNO and it was determined that all this time my Aunt Jeanne thought Tigress was a girl, she is in fact a he, so Tigress has been renamed Tiger.  Jeanne would get a kick out of knowing this is she were still here.

QTPI was adopted and has a wonderful forever home and Mom, I would love to know how he is, he is a wondefully adorable kitty and I miss him so much.

Addie and Baby were adopted by my husband and I and we love them so much and are so glad they are with us.

Honey and Jubydee are still doing well and live at my Sister's house, she took them in after their new Dad had to travel for his work.

Marty also lives at my Sister's, their Mom is my Sister's step-daughter, Marty loves his Mom and his home.

Pretty Minnie had passed last year due to kidney failure, shortly after she was surrendered to ARNO, we are so grateful to ARNO for their caring and support during the final days of her life.

Lottie-Da, Jeanne's dog was finally adopted by Jeanne's Sister's friend, he takes Lottie-Da on RV trips and he loves his baby so much.

Update 9/30/21

In the six weeks since the last update, so much has happened!  Hurricane Ida stormed through and many are still trying to recover from the devastation.  Animal Rescue New Orleans took great care of all the animals during the storm.  They had to move many animals to their future facility for better protection.  They were without power for about a week after the storm, were dealing with a boil water situation and were in great need on generators, water and sheets and supplies for the animals.  Their dedication and tireless work for the animals is both highly impressive and heartwarming with all they did to make sure the animals were safe.  Read the Nola.com Article on ARNO here.

Prior to the storm, My husband and I adopted Addie and my husband's sister adopted Baby.  My Sister in New Orleans graciously fostered them until their transport on 9/11 from New Orleans to Florida.  Since then, Addie and Baby are adjusting to their new homes.  More updates to follow on their progress.

I learned this week, both QTPie and Tinkerbell, two awesome cats, that I love so very much, got adopted by a wonderful new Mom and a spectacular new Dad.  We are so grateful to Animal Rescue New Orleans for finding them new forever homes and truly thankful to the new parents.  The relief I feel knowing they will have normal, fulfilling and loving lives means so much to me and I know my Aunt Jeanne is heaven feeling even more blessed.

Two kitties remain at the shelter, Bennie & Lilly Anne.  They are well suited to be adopted out together as they have relied on each other for company, security and warmth!  They are related and come from the same feral cat colony that my Aunt Jeanne rescued them from over a decade ago.  Bennie is around 11 years old and Lilly Anne is 13.  They are both timid but very good kitties, who love a very cozy bed to snuggle and nap.  They enjoy playtime with the laser toy and a turbo scratcher toy.  They both love treats and catnip, too!

Please take a look at the Meet the Cats page for video of Bennie and Lilly Anne from earlier this year.   If you can Adopt or Foster these two together, they would so grateful, I am sure!

New Photos and Video of the adopted pets will be forthcoming!

Update 8/14/21

Two of Jeanne's Pets, Addie and Baby are in the process of being adopted!

Tigress has been in permanent foster from Animal Rescue of New Orleans.   Tigress is thriving and ruling the roost with the help, love and care of her awesome foster parents!

Four (4) of Jeanne's Pets are still waiting for their forever homes, Bennie, Lilly Anne, Tinkerbell and QTPie, we pray they will get the family love they all deserve.

Update: 7/5/21

Pretty Minnie was a petite elderly cat with a huge presence and such a cute, spunky personality. She loved giving her affection and like everyone in the NOLA area, anytime was really a fine time for a good meal and she was grateful to our family members that cared for her and loved her. Pretty Minnie was a Special Needs Cat and had acute conditions of Hyperthyroidism and Kidney Disease. She passed away of kidney failure on Friday, July 2nd, 2021. She was surrounded and comforted by our loving and caring friends from Animal Rescue of New Orleans (ARNO) and Healthy Paws Animal Hospital's, Dr. Kelly. Pretty Minnie transitioned to Heaven on Friday, July 2nd, 2021, to go be in her Momma, Jeanne's arms. We are so grateful to ARNO and Healthy Paws for rescuing and caring for Jeanne's rescued pet, Pretty Minnie.

Update:  7/1/21:
It is with great sorrow to report that Jeanne has passed away on Friday, June 25th, 2021.  Jeanne's Cats need you now more than ever.

Eight (8) cats are currently at Animal Rescue of New Orleans, No-Kill Shelter, where they are receiving shelter, getting their basic needs met, have access to any medical care that may be necessary and are receiving loving care while they go through the customary isolation period.  It a huge change for them and they are very sad and upset to be taken away from their Mom and their home. Two Special Needs Cats will go to ARNO's  fosters permanently.  Please help the remaining six (6) adoptable cats.  I will not rest easy until they are all placed in their forever homes!  Your efforts to spread the word on these darling cats are very appreciated, please share their website  www.rescuejeannespets.com , I will be updating it often.

Any donations to the Rescue Jeanne's Pets fundraiser will be now allocated to Animal Rescue of New Orleans to assist with the cost of taking in and caring for so many of Jeanne's Pets.  I will continue to update information on Jeanne's Pets here as they await their forever homes.

ABOUT JEANNE

Jeanne Varuso was absolutely an Amazing Earth Angel!  Jeanne saved innumerable homeless pets from many different areas and heartbreakingly hazardous situations around Metairie, Slidell and Kenner throughout her life.   I went with her on many occasions to go out and feed feral cats, after spending the days with her, as she took care of other people and many of her rescued pets.   Throughout the years, caring for the feral cats is something Jeanne did so much, many times done in the midnight hour and beyond when she knew the cats would come out.  She bought lots of needed supplies to fill her vehicle with bags of food, water jugs and bowls to go feed the many feral cats colonies around her community each and every day possible.

Many of her current cats she rescued from her place of business on Metairie Road near Causeway Boulevard several years back.   There was a gentleman that lived behind Jeanne's shop, named Mr Jimmy, who fed and cared for 26 feral cats there.  He went into hospice due to Cancer and then passed away. Jeanne had already closed her business months prior but she went back there daily for many months and made sure to care for the feral cats.  Unfortunately, the landscaping people were not friendly to these ferals. It is a shockingly gruesome story of why Jeanne was compelled to rescue many of these cats at this location.  She knew she was their only chance to provide many of them with safety and took in several of them.   She provided so much love, nurturing and all the essentials needed to gain their trust and the love of each one of these sweet babies.  Each one of her cats is very special to Jeanne and to her family members as well.  Over the years when Jeanne was either out of town or needed help with a pet sitter, I would visit and help care for her cats.  This is how I have gotten to know each of them and cannot just let them go just anywhere.  I have also assured my Aunt Jeanne that I would not let anything happen to her pets.

Jeanne was in a brutal battle with Stage 4 Cancer and passed away on June 25th, 2021.  For her Obituary Information, Click Here.

If you or someone you know would like to open your home and heart to any of Jeanne’s cats, please let us know.   Any funds raised will be forwarded to Animal Rescue of New Orleans as they have taken in 8 of Jeanne's cats and provided our family with their caring and support.   Thank you so much for your interest in rescuing Jeanne's pets.
